Casa Colina Hospital and Centers for Healthcare has received the Healthgrades 2020 Outstanding Patient Experience Award, recognizing it as being among the top 5% of hospitals nationwide for overall patient experience, it announces.
The honor is the result of survey research for calendar year 2020 conducted by Healthgrades, an online resource connecting healthcare consumers and physicians.
Healthgrades evaluated the hospital’s performance by surveying real patients and scoring a variety of aspects of the care experience, focusing on patients’ perspectives of their care. Survey topics ranged from cleanliness and noise levels in patient rooms to physician and nurse communication. The measures also include whether a patient would recommend the hospital to friends or family, according to a media release from Casa Colina.
“From our inpatient medical, surgical, and rehabilitation care, to our children’s services, diagnostic imaging, and housekeeping services, Casa Colina is committed to improving the patient experience across our entire organization. Creating a safe, positive, and comfortable care experience for our patients and their families will always be priority number one.”
— Felice L. Loverso, PhD, Casa Colina President and CEO
In an ongoing effort to improve quality of care, in 2019 Casa Colina created its Patient and Family Advocacy Council, which gives patients and families the chance to educate clinicians and administrators about real patient experiences. According to Casa Colina, the goal of the council is to “create a culture of collaboration and transparency, where patients and their loved ones are empowered to influence their medical care in a meaningful way,” the release continues.
“Patient experience plays a huge role in the perception of the care a patient receives, and it is important that hospitals continue to learn from and evolve their patient experiences. It is also equally important that consumers access this information and do their research when determining where to receive care.”
