Internet-based higher education provider Drexel University Online and the Drexel University College of Nursing and Health Professions (CNHP) recently announced the scheduled launch of certificates in pediatric rehabilitation and integrated nursing care of Autism spectrum disorders.
The online Advanced Practice in Pediatric Rehabilitation Certificate is intended to provide physical and occupational therapists with advanced specialization in multiple facets of pediatric rehabilitation, such as early intervention, school-based practice, and other pediatric services in a professional learning community.
Deborah Rose, PT, DPT, PCS, profess in the CNHP department of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Sciences notes that students in the program, “will enhance their comprehension of family and client-centered practice in diverse pediatric rehabilitation settings.” Rose is a pediatric clinical specialist will reportedly be teaching in the Advanced Practice in Pediatric Rehabilitation Certificate program.
The release reports that the online Integrated Nursing Care of Autism Spectrum Disorders Certificate is designed to assist nurses in understanding and delivering lifelong care to individuals with ASD and their families. Courses in the program will also instruct students in providing more responsive, cooperative, and professional service to this population.
“Students will develop and pursue a highly innovative role in an area of practice in which the value of nursing care has not been fully developed,” explains Ellen Giarelli, RN, CRNP, associate professor in the Doctoral Nursing Program at CNHP.
The release states that Giarelli will be leading the Integrated Nursing Care of Autism Spectrum Disorders Certificate program. The release notes that both online certificate programs will be available starting this fall.
