A 2-day Ascend summit, sponsored by Phoenix-based WebPT, will take place in Chicago on September 18-19, 2015, and will focus on business best practices for physical and occupational therapists, according to a press release from WebPT.

The event, which will take place at the Renaissance Chicago Downtown, will feature sessions covering such rehab therapy business topics as alternative payment models, ICD-10, direct access marketing, and innovative ways to boost revenue, the release notes, continuing that speakers will include compliance experts Rick Gawenda and Tom Ambury, WebPT founder and COO Heidi Jannenga, Flexeon Rehabilitation CEO Joseph LaPorta, and cash-based practice expert Ann Wendel.

In addition to gaining valuable business advice, the release notes, attendees will have the opportunity to earn up to 10 continuing education units from the American Occupational Therapy Association and the New York, California, Texas, and Illinois American Physical Therapy Association chapters.

“In this 2-day educational event, PTs and OTs will learn practical, readily applicable business tactics they can use to capitalize on the evolving healthcare system,” Jannenga says in the release. “This requires a proactive, opportunistic mind-set. It requires strategies for scale. It requires therapists to get down to business—literally. That’s what Ascend is about: business.”
