In a strategic partnership between Permobil and SoftWheel, Permobil Canada announces that it has received the exclusive distribution rights in Canada for the SoftWheel in-wheel suspension system for manual wheelchairs.
“This partnership supports our dedication to improving the lives of our clients by providing them with the highest quality rehab products on the market,” states Allan Boyd, general manager of Permobil Canada, in a media release. “Permobil is thrilled to partner with SoftWheel to make their product available to Canadian manual wheelchair users.”
SoftWheel features three shock-absorbing struts around a central hub. Since the suspension system is built into the wheel itself, the shock absorbers can switch between providing rigidity and cushioning. In addition, when the technology is not needed, SoftWheel works as a regular wheel.
“We set out to give wheelchair users a more comfortable and accessible ride, and we ended up reinventing the wheel,” explains SoftWheel CEO, Daniel Barel, in the release. “SoftWheel can really change a wheelchair user’s life.”
