Carlisle Academy, an integrative riding school where people with disabilities can develop their equestrian skills, has been named an official Paralympic Sports Club.

This recognition gives Carlisle Academy, located in Lyman, Maine, access to the resource network of the US Paralympics organization and connects its programs with the Paralympic Games.

“We have been working steadily toward the goal of joining the Paralympic movement,” says Sarah Armentrout, co-founder and executive director of Carlisle Academy, in a media release. “Now, our athletes, who dream of competing on a national or world stage, have all of the tools they need to reach that dream.”

Carlisle has also been recognized as one of only three International Para-equestrian centers of excellence by the leading organizations in the sport, the release adds.
