The fourth annual Marine Corps Trials, an 8-Sport Paralympic-style invitational, is slated to take place at Camp Pendleton, Calif, March 4 to 12. The trials involve more than 300 wounded, ill, or injured Marines and international competitors.

A news release from the United States Marine Corps Wounded Warrior Regiment states that during the invitational, participants will be organized into four competing teams. The teams will be comprised of two active duty teams, a Marine veteran team, and an international team comprised of wounded warriors from US international allies.

According to the release, the Marine Corps Trials are designed to provide wounded, ill, or injured Marines the opportunity to further rehabilitation of the mind, body, and spirit through competition and camaraderie. A range of activities are available for competition, including archery, shooting, swimming, track, field, cycling, sitting volleyball, and wheelchair basketball. Each participant, the release says, will compete in either two or three events. More than 50 coaches will also be on hand to train and coach participants.

Training and coaching for participants in their respective events is scheduled to be held March 4 to 6, with competitions beginning March 7. Training and coaching will be provided throughout the Trials as well. The final schedule will be posted here

Participation is open to active duty, reserve, and veteran wounded, ill, or injured Marines of all skill levels. The international team will include wounded warriors from Australia, Canada, Columbia, France, Georgia, Germany, the Netherlands, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom.
