Several new products directed at the long-term rehab arena have recently become available from Port Washington, NY-based Drive Medical, according to a release from the company.

The Shower Chair with Oval Back is designed to enable patients who have trouble standing or walking to sit while showering. It is lightweight, assembled without tools, and has height-adjustable legs with nonslip feet. It also includes a removable backrest and a built-in shower spray holder.

The Wenzelite Pinniped Pediatric Commode is built for children and teens with limited mobility who cannot use a regular toilet. The all-in-one welded steel frame is available in either red or blue, with rubber non-skid tips to ensure that the legs will not mark the floor. The seat is height-adjustable, enabling long-term use. The armrests and contoured back provide additional comfort, while the adjustable hook & loop chest strap provide additional support. It also comes with a 7.5-quart removable commode bucket, a metal handle, and a cover.

The Hinged Toilet Seat Riser raises the height of the toilet 3.5 inches to help those with poor balance, arthritis, limited mobility, or injuries not bend as far to sit on the commode, therefore relieving stress on their hips and knees. It is available as either standard or elongated and easily attaches to the toilet bowl, it is hinged and can fold out of the way when it isn’t needed, and it is easy to install with no tools required.

The Patient Lift, 3” Wheels, Silver Vein is fully manual, so that caregivers can safely raise and lower individuals from a stationary position in any room without a power source. High-performance hydraulics raise and lower patients gradually and safely, helping to lessen the effort required by caregivers. It also features Silver Vein steel construction; a six-point swivel bar that can accommodate two- or four-sling straps, plus two chain connections; and an adjustable-width base.

The Universal Mattress Cover, Defined Perimeter for standard beds has built-in medium-density foam that surrounds the edge of the bed, so that side rails are not needed to prevent the patient from exiting the bed unassisted or falling. The mid-section is open for safe and easy patient egress and ingress. It is easy to install and secure, and the nylon cover can be wiped clean.
