beach-terraceFollowing damage sustained by Hurricane Sandy, Beach Terrace Care Center, headquartered in Long Beach, NY, celebrated the grand re-opening of its new rehabilitation suite, according to a recent news release. In addition to its new rehabilitation and therapy room, the shorefront end of the facility’s building features a newly constructed visitor’s lounge overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.

The release reports that Beach Terrace’s first floor was destroyed by the storm and its entire facility evacuated.

Martin Zwick, Beach Terrace administrator, emphasizes that the rebuilding began from the ground up, “We thought about every single patient that would set foot in this room and how they would need to utilize what we offer to benefit them the most,” Zwick says.

Beach Terrace Care Center notes that its rehab department treats a range of medical conditions including stroke, orthopedic injury, or surgery for joint replacement. The 182-bed facility also treats individuals with traumatic brain injury (TBI) or other neurological conditions, or those who need reconditioning.
