Today at noon EDT, a news release announces that Allen Dobson, PhD, health economist, former director of the Office of Research at CMS will assess long-term Medicare claims data for patients with conditions involving lower limb orthoses, spinal orthoses, and lower limb prostheses.

Dobson’s report will take place during a live, two-way webinar. The report, which the release notes was commissioned by the Amputee Coalition, will investigate whether it is more or less expensive for taxpayers to provide full orthotic or prosthetic care for qualifying Medicare patients than it is to deny such care to Medicare patients who require it, but do not receive it.

Speakers slated for the webcast include Susan Stout, interim president and CEO, Amputee Coalition, Allen Dobson, president of Dobson DaVanzo & Associates LLC, and Thomas F. Kirk, PhD, president, American Orthotic & Prosthetic Association. Rounding out the speakers is an actual recipient of Medicare-provided orthotic and prosthetic care.
