amputee-coalitionYesterday, in an effort to provide limb loss materials to Boston hospitals treating the injured following the explosions at the Boston Marathon, the Amputee Coalition reached out to the leaders of the New England Amputee Association. A recent news release reports that the New England Amputee Association supports amputees in Boston and surrounding areas.

Kendra Calhoun, president and CEO, Amputee Coalition, Manassas, Va, emphasizes that the Coalition’s, “hearts go out to the family and friends of those killed or injured in the Boston Marathon explosions. Peer support is critical to those who undergo limb loss.”

Calhoun adds that it is also vital that individuals and their families who have been impacted have the resources needed to help them on their journey to recovery and re-adjustment. The release notes that the Amputee Coalition’s National Limb Loss Resource Center provides comprehensive information and resources free of charge to people with limb loss and their families, friends, and health care professionals.
