Dan Meuser, president, Pride USA, has announced his candidacy for the Republican nomination for the US House of Representatives. Meuser will battle first-term Democrat incumbent, Christopher P. Carney to represent Pennsylvania’s 10th Congressional District.

Meuser joined Pride Mobility Products Corporation in 1987, known then as Pride Health Care Inc, and has played an instrumental role in helping Pride become a leading designer, developer and manufacturer of mobility products.

A statement from Pride USA reports that under Meuser’s leadership the company’s sales force solidified Pride’s position as a continual market leader. The report adds that Meuser’s efforts have also significantly contributed to the company’s growth.

The newly-announced candidate has also maintained a leadership role in industry and patient advocacy, according to Pride USA.

The national political arena is not unfamiliar to Meuser, who the company reports has worked with key government officials that include Sen Arlen Specter (R-PA), former Sen Rick Santorum (R-PA) and Secretary of Health and Human Services Michael Leavitt. Pride USA reports these cooperative efforts have resulted in equitable benefits for American’s with disabilities and fairer treatment of the industry by CMS.

Meuser is a member of the Senatorial Inner Circle Commission, serves on the financial committee for the Pennsylvania State Republican Committee, and is honorary chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee Business Advisory Council. Within the home medical equipment (HME) industry, Meuser has served on the board of the National Coalition for Assistive and Rehab Technology and is a board member of the American Association for Homecare, the HME industry’s national association.

Meuser also is reported to have received HomeCare’s “HomeCaring Award” in 2006 in recognition of his distinguished service to the home medical equipment industry and Americans with disabilities.

“During his 20 years with Pride Mobility Products Corp, Dan has seen first hand how the work of the mobility industry makes a difference in the lives of Americans with disabilities. His commitment to the industry and those it serves will only expand as he takes his extensive business experience to the political arena.” says Scott Meuser, chairman and CEO of Pride Mobility Products Corp.

“Dan’s election to Congress would provide the industry with a passionate subject matter expert in Washington and Pride Mobility Products Corp fully supports his decision to run. We are excited for Dan and look forward to his continued success as he begins his campaign," Scott Meuser adds.

Dan Meuser said he was grateful to the employees and customers or Pride USA for the support they have given his candidacy. “I will remain very committed to my core business strategy of setting and accomplishing goals that has served me well throughout my career at Pride,” he says.

Meuser will soon announce his leave of absence from Pride Mobility Products Corp to begin campaigning full time.
