ActivaTek, a  privately held manufacturer of transdermal iontophoretic devices founded in 2006, has been acquired by Gilroy, Calif-based manufacturer and supplier of rehabilitation medical products North Coast Medical Inc. According to a North Coast Medical news release, ActivaTek, based in Salt Lake City, strives to bring innovation and advanced technologies to the iontophoresis market with products such as the ActivaPatch and the ActivaDose II.

The North Coast Medical news release notes that ActivaTek’s combination of wired and wireless iontophoresis technology is designed to offer patients, physicians, and physical therapists an exceptional level of control of iontophoresis drug delivery.

Mark E. Biehl, CEO of North Coast Medical, states, “This acquisition enables us to enhance the well-being of a greater number of rehabilitation patients and represents an exciting new source of growth for our business as well as our global distribution partners in the rehabilitation medical sector.”
