older adultIn home-care agency Seniors Helping Seniors (SHS), headquartered in Fort Collins, Colo, reports that it will be presenting skill-based caregiver trainings the third Thursday of each month for caregivers of older adults at Pathways Hospice, Fort Collins. The trainings are slated to feature expert professionals in a variety of fields including physical therapy, occupational therapy, nursing, care coordination, dementia, Alzheimer care, and nutrition.

Upcoming trainings are scheduled for March 21, with a focus on communication and caregiver boundaries, and April 18, targeting personal care of bed-bound patients, encompassing topics such as bathing, dressing, and grooming.

SHS notes that past training topics have included injury prevention, featuring Krista Covell, Covell Care and Rehabilitation, assistance with ambulation, presented by Andrea Siener, PT, Preferred Home, and communication techniques for Alzheimer patients, featuring Emmalie Connor, executive director of Alzheimer’s Association of Northern Colorado.
