ITC Holdings Corp, an independent electric transmission company based in Novi, Mich, is donating specialized all-terrain wheelchairs to military veterans living in Iowa, Oklahoma, Kansas, and Michigan.

Through charitable contributions from its employees, the company has raised funds to purchase nine specialty wheelchairs from Action Trackchair, Marshall, Minn.

ITC presented the funds to purchase the wheelchairs to representatives from the Paralyzed Veterans of America on Veteran’s Day, at the company’s corporate headquarters. Also on hand as a recipient organization were representatives from Camp Liberty, an outdoor recreation center that helps reintegrate military members.

Wheelchairs purchased from the funds will be given to veterans living in those four states, which the transmission company serves, according to a media release from ITC Holdings Corp.

“I am grateful for our employees’ generosity toward this cause. I know many of us hold it near to our hearts,” says Joe Welch, chairman, president and CEO of ITC Holdings Corp, in the release.

“The work Paralyzed Veterans of America (PVA) performs is critical to better treating and helping veterans, and others, in the future,” he adds.
