As a way to help reduce injuries among patients and practitioners caused by patient lifting, staff at Florida Hospital Wesley Chapel has begun using specialized lifting equipment instead of lifting manually.

Each of the five types of mechanical lifting equipment provided by Diligent is designed to provide patients with extra security and comfort while reducing strain on clinician’s muscles as they lift and move patients, states a media release from Florida Hospital Wesley Chapel.

“The decision to eliminate manual patient lifting is an example of Florida Hospital Wesley Chapel’s commitment to stay on the front edge of both patient and employee safety,” says Mary Brady, chief nursing officer, in the release. “With this equipment, we can help make the daily process of moving patients safer, easier, and more comfortable for everyone involved.”

Florida Hospital Wesley Chapel is part of the Adventist Health System, comprised of 26 hospitals across the state.
