Annette C. Watson, RN-BC, CCM, MBA, has joined CARF International as its managing director of emerging business. Watson is based in the health and human services accreditor’s Washington, DC, office.

In announcing the appointment, Brian J. Boon, PhD, CARF International president and CEO, said, “Annette Watson is a widely respected leader in healthcare accreditation, quality, and patient safety. I have confidence in her intelligence and vision as CARF explores new markets to extend quality services. Her knowledge and experience, in addition to her strong support of our quality and consumer-centered mission, will be a tremendous asset.”

Watson brings three decades of senior leadership and operational experience in both the for-profit and not-for-profit healthcare quality and managed care sectors. Her appointment to CARF follows her 6-year tenure at URAC, an accreditor of healthcare organizations, where she held senior leadership positions, most recently as its chief accreditation officer, vice president, and general manager of client services.

“I am inspired by the mission of this organization and its central commitment to enhancing the lives of persons served,” Watson says. “This unique focus differentiates CARF International as an accreditation organization. I look forward to working with Dr. Boon and the entire CARF International team to contribute to its continued success.”

Watson is a board-certified registered nurse and a certified case manager. She holds a bachelor’s degree from New England College and an MBA from Franklin Pierce College. She currently serves on the board of directors of the Commission for Case Management Certification (CCMC), the advisory board of the Women Business Leaders in Health Care Foundation (WBL), and the Case Management Society of America (CMSA) standards of practice committee.
