The International Association of Rehabilitation Professionals (IARP) announces it has elected Steven Yuhas as its new president. He replaces previous president Dr Rick Robinson, whose term expired on June 24.
Yuhas currently works as a rehabilitation consultant and life care planner with The Directions Group Inc. He graduated from the University of South Carolina and is a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor and a Certified Life Care Planner, according to a media release from IARP.
“IARP has been foundational for my career, providing a peer group and an organization that not only helped me in the beginning of my career, but continues to be a help to my profession 30 years later,” Yuhas says, in the release. “I am excited and humbled to be elected to lead this outstanding association as we continue to pursue the best ways to offer rehabilitation services to people who need it.”
Among his goals for IARP during his term are to position IARP as the leader of lifelong learning and career development for the professional rehabilitation community; enhance the member value proposition to build and execute a membership growth and retention plan; and establish IARP as a leading source for high quality research, data and peer reviewed research beneficial to the rehabilitation community.
Additional goals, per the release, are: become an influencer and information source on legislative, regulatory, and policy issues; assure governance structure is appropriate to operate an impactful organization; and establish and maintain effective relationships with external organizations and institutions.
