The snowy winters in Idaho can be a wonderland for youngsters who can access the outdoors. A specialized wheelchair built for off-road terrain was gifted to a 3-year-old in Sun Valley to make sure arthrogryposis doesn’t miss out on the fun.
A grant through the Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF) of Idaho connected 3-year-old Teddy Wallace of Sun Valley, Idaho, with a GRIT off-road wheelchair. The specialized mobility device has only been made available to adults but through a special arrangement coordinated by CAF and the wheelchair manufacturer, GRIT, headquartered in Medford, Mass, Wallace received the first pediatric version of the wheelchair ever built.
A video report that spotlights Teddy Wallace using this unique mobility device appears on the NBC29.com website.
