Ottobock will be relocating its North American Logistics and Distribution operations from Minneapolis and Toronto, Ontario, to Louisville, Ky. The company notes that the move to Louisville is part of its expanded investment in the US and North America, encompassing a goal to triple business.

Andreas Schultz, North American regional president and CEO of Ottobock, states that, “Louisville has a strong reputation of shipping expertise, and we believe the creation of a regional distribution center there will build efficiency in today’s competitive environment and support the accelerated growth we are anticipating.”

Schultz adds that an additional consideration guiding the move to choose a new location hinged on providing an environment where employees and the organization could “flourish while maintaining our continuing commitment to improving patient outcomes and supporting clinical excellence. We are confident the choice of Louisville supports our aims.”

A company news release states that the transition is currently under way with limited receiving, stocking, and shipping of Ottobock mobility products occurring and the warehouse being readied for additional inventory. The company adds hiring has begun, with 20 new jobs estimated to be filled by October 2014.
