For the sixth year in a row, Magee Rehabilitation is hosting “Walk It Out,” a 24-hour fundraising and awareness event in partnership with the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation.

For 24 hours starting at 3 pm on Friday, April 12 through 3 pm on Saturday, April 13, current and former patients and community members will walk on treadmills at Magee Riverfront Outpatient Center (1500 South Columbus Boulevard in Philadelphia) to raise money for Magee’s Locomotor Training Program and the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation’s NeuroRecovery Network (NRN).

Music, food, raffles, and lots of excitement will be available for attendees, according to Magee Rehabilitation.

During the event, current and former patients with paralysis will walk on a Therastride treadmill, a lokomat robotic treadmill, or a standard treadmill, with each participant bringing the team a few steps closer to the 24-hour stepping goal. Each patient can have a buddy, such as a friend or family member, walk beside them for support on a standard treadmill. Walking breaks are encouraged, but the goal is to have at least one treadmill going at all times.
