CARF International has awarded Helen Hayes Hospital 3-year accreditation for 12 rehabilitation programs offered at the West Haverstraw, NY-located healthcare facility.
This is the seventh consecutive 3-year accreditation the international accrediting body has awarded to the specialty physical rehabilitation hospital. In addition, this is reportedly one of the largest numbers of accredited programs bestowed by CARF to any one organization, according to a media release.
The programs are:

“The CARF survey team commented on the outstanding reputation Helen Hayes Hospital has as being a leader of rehab hospitals all over the country,” says the hospital’s chief executive officer, Edmund J. Coletti.
“This recent on-site visit highlighted the excellent care our patients receive and showcased our extraordinary, state-of-the art facility.”
Within the accreditation report, surveyors highlighted a large number of hospital strengths, including the excellent patient-centered care provided by the hospital’s experienced clinical staff members; the wide variety of community outreach programs offered by the hospital, including those that advocate for disabled individuals, aid in the adjustment to disability, and promote injury prevention; the incredibly effective team communication channels present at the hospital, which allow for the comprehensive alignment of patient care toward goals; the hospital’s full-service on-site prosthetic and orthotic lab and fabrication suite; the hospital’s Smart Apartment, which provides a high-tech model of a home fitted with rehabilitative technology solutions; the culture of continuous learning present among clinicians and other staff at the hospital; and the wellness programs offered at the hospital for patients and community members, including adaptive sports, support groups, a gym, meditation and more, the release explains.
