The North Shore-LIJ Health System, based in Manhasset, NY, recently opened the doors on a facility for rehabilitation care staffed with physiatrists; physical and occupational therapists; speech-language pathologists and neuropsychologists.

Located at 1554 Northern Blvd. in Manhasset, NY, the facility is reported to house the services a half dozen physical medicine and rehabilitation specialists. Among those specialists are Adam Stein, MD, chair of physical medicine and rehabilitation; Matthew Shatzer, DOSusan Maltser, DOAnthony Oreste, MDRenee Enriquez, MD; and Sarah Khan, DO.

A media release from The North Shore-LIJ Health Systems reports that these physicians specialize in neurological disorders, including stroke, brain injury and spinal cord injury medicine, as well as cancer rehabilitation, spine care, amputation and disorders of the musculoskeletal system.

The release also indicates that services provided at the facility include spinal injections; electrodiagnostic testing; diagnostic and therapeutic musculoskeletal ultrasound; botulinum toxin injections and intrathecal baclofen pump management; evaluation for rehabilitation therapies; and prescription of assistive devices, orthotics and prosthetics.

Located nearby is The North Shore-LIJ’s Sports Therapy and Rehabilitation Services (STARS), which features a physical therapy center equipped to treat a variety of musculoskeletal, orthopedic and neurological disorders.

Also located in the same structure is North Shore-LIJ’s Transitions of Long Island, described as a comprehensive outpatient neuro-rehabilitation program for persons sustaining injury or disease of the brain such as traumatic brain injury and stroke.
