Healthcare Information Management Systems Society Analytics (HIMSS) has awarded  Burke Rehabilitation Hospital, White Plains, NY, Stage 6 certification for its electronic medical record adoption model (EMR).

HIMSS Analytics scores hospitals on their progress in completing the eight stages toward creating an electronic medical record. Burke Rehabilitation Hospital reports that it is the first post acute care hospital in the nation to achieve Stage 6 certification.

Burke uses MediLinks™ inpatient rehabilitation solution from MediServe, Chandler, Ariz, as its primary documentation system. “The ability to aggregate data to be used for improving patient care and outcomes is paramount for us at Burke," says Ken Kupetsky, Burke’s chief information systems officer. "The MediServe solution was definitely instrumental in helping us achieve Stage 6 certification.”

HIMSS Analytics describes Stage 6 hospitals as those that “have made significant executive commitments and investments to reach this stage, and recognize the strategic value of improving patient care with the EMR.” The society collects and analyzes health care data related to information technology processes and environments.
