A family in Denver were recently able to replace their wheelchair van, thanks to Performance Mobility and donations from community members.

According to a media release from Performance Mobility, a few months ago the van used by James Presley to drive his son, William (who uses a wheelchair as a result of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy) to school broke down. As a result, James started walking his son 2 ½ miles to and from his high school every day.

James contacted Performance Mobility, and its general manager—Terry Chleboun—helped him find a used, low-mileage wheelchair van that fit his needs.

A local TV station aired a profile of the Presley family, which helped raise more than $15,000 via GoFundMe. Then, Performance Mobility pitched in and offered a $10,000 discount toward the van purchase, the release continues.

James and his son took the vehicle home the week before Thanksgiving, the release notes.
