Healthcare payor reimbursement isn’t always a barometer of the business savvy physical therapists and occupational therapists use to maintain and grow their practices. That’s why WebPT established an award that includes a $1,500 cash prize and full-page magazine ad to recognize a therapy practice that has achieved business excellence.

The new Practice of the Year Award will honor a rehab therapy private practice that has demonstrated exemplary business success over the last year, according to a statement from WebPT. The award will be handed out at a ceremony conducted during the company’s Ascend event, scheduled for September 18-19 in Chicago.

According to a WebPT media release, Ascend’s panel of award judges — comprised of what the company describes as leading rehab therapy industry experts — will evaluate applicants’ performance according to criteria that includes business achievements, goals, and methodology. The winner will receive a cash prize of $1,500 and a full-page ad in PPS Impact Magazine.

Heidi Jannenga, PT, DPT, ATC/L, who is the founder and COO of WebPT, notes in the media release that there are many PT and OT private practices achieving greatness every single day, despite the changing climate of healthcare.

“This award allows us to put the spotlight on a practice that is truly breaking the business mold,” Jannenga says. “We hope that by showcasing business innovation in the rehab therapy space — by showing what is possible — we can inspire the entire industry to start thinking outside of the traditional model,” she adds.

In addition to the award, Ascend reportedly will feature a variety of educational sessions designed to help physical and occupational therapy professionals learn practical business tactics they can use to capitalize on the evolving healthcare environment. WebPT reports that attendees can earn up to 10 continuing education units (CEUs).
