An education course for rehabilitation professionals, designed to help prevent falls among older adults and the homebound, will take place in the Dallas and Houston metro areas on July 28 and July 30.

Sharon Claye, president and owner of Fall Prevention Training Services LLC, will teach the program, called “6 Steps to Better Balance.”

Developed by Dr Betty Perkins-Carpenter, founder and president of Senior Fitness Inc, the program is designed to use repetitive practice of a series of movements and simple activities to help older adults increase gain better balance and increase their level of physical activity.

The program’s goals include reducing the probability of falls, the fear of falling, and fall-related injuries; as well as increasing body flexibility, leg strength, and overall endurance.

Clay is a Certified Master Trainer in this system, per a media release from Fall Prevention Training Services LLC.

The 8-hour training program, which is eligible for continuing education credits, will take place in Irving, Tex, on July 28, and in Humble, Tex, on July 30.
