A news release from Hands-On Seminars Inc reports that physical therapists nationwide can now start earning their Vestibular Rehabilitation Therapy (VRT) Certification through the international continuing education organization. Hands-On Seminars adds that it has made the course available in an effort to prevent falls and injuries, particularly since each year, it is reported that every three adults aged 65 or older fall. Injuries such as hip fractures and head traumas can result from these falls and may increase the risk of early fatality.

The next live workshop will be July 26 to 27 in Astoria, New York, the company says.

The continuing education course was designed by recognized Neuro-Ontology specialist Randolph McKenzie, MD, PhD, FACS. Hands on Seminars states in the release that McKenzie has authored more than 20 peer-reviewed journal articles and books. McKenzie also maintains active research interests in the vestibular system, ongoing continuing medical education activities for occupational therapists, physicians, residents in training, and medical students.

Dimitrios Kostopoulis, PT, MD, PhD, DSc, ECS, and co-founder of Hands-On Seminars, states that the organization is proud to partner McKenzie. “The expertise and experience that he brings to the course is truly invaluable. Physical therapists around the world are receiving an important opportunity to learn a very important skill from a very accomplished instructor,” Kostopoulis says.
