ROVI Mobility Products has awarded Jacob Titus, a junior-year student at Burlington County Institute of Technology in New Jersey, its 2017 Design Innovation Award scholarship.
ROVI manufactures the ROVI X3 power mobility system, which is distributed exclusively by Tonawanda, NY-based Motion Concepts.
“The students at BCIT are an inspiration, and it’s exciting to promote the principles of Universal Design and Assistive Technology with them each year. Jacob’s concept for an elevator built into an existing staircase was outstanding,” says ROVI President Cody Verrett, in a media release.
“In 2015, the students at BCIT were instrumental in creating the test track for the X3’s launch party and the process of working with the kids gave spark to this scholarship. It’s been a fun way to give back and help promote the Assistive Technology industry with these bright, young people.”
Titus plans to use the $1500 scholarship toward his continuing education aspirations upon graduation in 2018, per the release.
