The MR4 laser therapy device, manufactured by Solon, Ohio-based Multi Radiance Medical, has won approval by the Therapeutic Products Directorate of the Medical Devices Bureau of Health Canada.

The MR4 LaserStim is characterized by Multi Radiance as a hybrid technology that combines a laser with electrical neuro-stimulation, and comes with TARGET technology (Treatment Area Recognition and Guidance Enhanced Technology), engineered to identify optimal treatment areas. As the handheld LaserStim emitter is moved over the tissue, treatment areas are identified assisting the clinician with the correct dose of highly targeted treatments.

Multi Radiance reports that the MR4 laser uses 25,000 mW to 50,000 mW of super pulsed power, and performs with a high degree of safety to provide accelerated pain relief and healing.

"Over 400,000 Multi Radiance Medical devices have been sold in more than 30 countries providing relief via 300+ treatment protocols." said Max Kanarsky, president of Multi Radiance Medical. "We are excited to now be able to offer MR4 laser therapy devices to clinicians throughout Canada.”

The company estimates MR4 lasers are used by 80% of teams in the National Hockey League, as well as many teams in the National Basketball Association and Major League Baseball.
