The Westfall Foundation, Wildomar, Calif, has released a series of fitness and exercise DVDs to raise awareness for those with Friedreich’s Ataxia.

Part of outreach campaign “Commit To Your Health,” the DVDs include several exercises to help those with the neuromuscular disease. They are a compilation of everything Kerry Westfall has learned from physicians, himself, and personal trainers.

Westfall was diagnosed at a young age with the disease and in 1998 began to lift weights for five to 10 minutes a day before work. But it was not enough. In 2004 Westfall launched a program which included proper nutrition and exercise. He performs all exercises while in his wheelchair; however he made it a solid point to produce a DVD where people who are not in need of a wheelchair may also benefit.

Westfall’s main motivation for creating the DVD was that he has witnessed first-hand the health benefits of a healthy and active lifestyle.
