In celebration on its Disability Awareness Week, Salt Lake Community College (SLCC) has announced that it will be hosting a student voice panel, a screening of the movie, “Music Within,” a keynote presentation by Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) expert Richard Pimentel, PhD, and a performance by folk guitarist Jeremiah Maxey.

Beginning October 29 to kick of Disability Awareness Week, SLCC notes that it will host a student voice panel at its Taylorsville Redwood Campus. The screening of “Music Within,” which documents the life of Richard Pimentel is slated for November 1, also at the Taylorsville Redwood Campus.

According to a recent SLCC news release, during his keynote presentation, Pimentel will discuss the ability for individuals to make a difference by tapping into their own specialized qualities of leadership. Pimentel has reportedly designed and implemented return to work systems for the private sector and government employers nationwide. Pimentel is nationally recognized for his expertise in disability management, job recruitment, and the ADA, the release notes.

Next up on October 30 and October 31, SLCC reports that Maxey is scheduled to perform. Maxey will appear at the Student Pavilion on the Jordan Campus October 30 and at the East Entrance of the South City Campus main building. Maxey, the organization reports, is the lead guitarist for Misfit Toys and bassist for Telluride Meltdown, and has performed with a variety of bands including Great American Taxi, Eric McFadden, Marv Hamiliton, and Kate Mccloead.
