Ryan Martin, who gained fame as a professional wheelchair basketball player in the United States and Europe, has entered into a partnership with Rocky Hill, Conn-based Numotion, according to a media release from Numotion. Martin is also founder of The Ryan Martin Foundation.

Martin was born with Spina Bifida and had both his legs amputated when he was age 2 years, and discovered wheelchair basketball in his youth. In 2011, Martin founded the Ryan Martin Foundation with the mission “to help youth and adult athletes with disabilities live independent, impassioned, productive and full lives through sports training, mentoring and education.”

The foundation is characterized as one that provides youth mentoring and basketball camps, and reportedly is developing basketball camps in partnership with the Army for soldiers living with new disabilities. Martin also dedicates much of his time to motivational speaking appearances.

In 2015, Numotion reports that the company will be a Platinum Camp sponsor and provide support for youth basketball camps.

“As a long-time user of Numotion equipment, I know they are a company of integrity, innovation, and involvement. This collaboration expands the horizons of the Foundation, and we hope will lead more kids out on to the court, and on to success,” Martin says.

Scott Ritchotte, area vice president of sales, adds, “Numotion is proud and honored to establish a partnership with the Ryan Martin Foundation. Both organizations share common goals of promoting independence and quality of life for individuals with disabilities. Ryan is an exceptional mentor and leader; our collaborative goal for the partnership is to profoundly change people’s lives in a positive and lasting manner.”

“We wanted to team up with the Ryan Martin Foundation because the importance of the service and support they provide camp attendees is so clearly lasting and significant,” says Mark Miller, Numotion vice president of marketing and strategic partnerships. “We are very excited to be able to contribute to the achievements of these young athletes.”

Martin will also be writing for Nuances, The Numotion Blog as a guest blogger.
