R. Scott Ward, PT, PhD, has been elected as the newest president of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA).

Ward, who will serve a 3-year term, is the chairman of the physical therapy department at the University of Utah, Salt Lake City, as well as a practicing physical therapist at the University Hospitals Burn Center. He succeeds Ben Massey Jr, PT, MA.

Ward has served as president of the Utah chapter of APTA, treasurer of the APTAs Section on Education, board liaison to several chapters and sections, and APTA Liaison to the American Burn Association.He also heads the Rehabilitation Committee of the American Burn Association, and serves on the Rehabilitation Committee of the International Society for Burn Injury.
