Tutera Senior Living & Health Care, a diversified post-acute senior healthcare provider operating 47 older adult living communities in 13 states throughout the US, has announced a $7.5 million expansion and renovation of the Overland, Kan-based Stratford Commons memory care community. The 34,000 square-foot expansion of community includes the addition of 38 new private suites, four couples suites, a rehabilitation gym, new dining venue, and other amenities.
A news release issued by the organization adds that it will also renovate the existing property, with plans that include upgrades to the dining area, kitchen, and recreation areas. According to the release, construction on the expansion and renovation is slated to begin September 2014, with completion estimated in the fourth quarter of 2015.
The newly expanded single-story facility will adjoin the existing 29,000 square-foot memory care community, and upon completion, Stratford Commons will comprise 87 private suites, four couples suites with private bathrooms, a kitchenette, built-in cabinetry, large exterior windows, and high ceilings. Residents will also be able to train and recover from surgical procedures on Nautilus equipment specifically built to accommodate older adults in the new rehabilitation gym.
Additionally, as part of the expansion, the release reports that Stratford Commons will add two additional levels of care for its residents, which include skilled nursing and rehabilitation services. The two new services will be offered in addition to memory care on the existing campus in Overland Park.
Joe Tutera, CEO, Tutera Group, notes that the Stratford Commons expansion rounds out Tutera’s older adult living services in South Johnson County, adding, “With the addition of skilled nursing and rehabilitation services, Tutera will be able to offer a full continuum of care—much like a traditional [Continuing Care Retirement Community] CCRC—without requiring an initial large cash outlay by residents.”
Upon the expansion’s completion, the release says Tutera Senior Living & Health Care will offer a range of services intended to represent a full continuum care for older adults in Johnson County, including skilled nursing, rehabilitation services, and memory care at Stratford Commons, and independent and assisted living at The Atriums, Lamar Court, and Rose Estates.
