Sunrise Medical has announced the launch of the Quickie Q50 R Carbon, Quickie’s lightest folding power wheelchair with a transport weight of only 32 pounds. The folding Q50 R Carbon is designed to be easy to transport, store, and maneuver, providing a solution for people who want to remain active and independent without the burden of a heavy and large mobility device.

A carbon fiber frame, magnesium wheels and motors, and breathable upholstery make the Q50 R Carbon lightweight. Though light, it’s made to be incredibly strong and has a weight capacity of 300 pounds. And the sleek modern design and can be personalized with five accent colors.

The Q50 R Carbon’s dual battery provides a range of up to 15 miles, offering peace of mind and independence. According to the company, high torque 250w brushless magnesium cast motors are powerful enough to overcome varying indoor surfaces and bumps in the pavement. Made to be intuitive to use, the brushless motor controller responds to commands and shows the remaining battery life.

The folding mechanism is simple and allows the Q50 R Carbon to save space. Once folded, the Q50 R Carbon can rest upright on its anti-tips, making loading easy. The Q50 R Carbon’s compact profile fits easily into tight spaces or small car trunks, and a standard transport strap ensures it remains folded when handling.

To ensure the Q50 R Carbon Power Wheelchair meets Sunrise Medical’s high standards, the company conducts vigorous end-of-line testing.

“The Q50 R Carbon is ideal for so many people who want to be more independent and travel further,” says Jeff Rogers, director of power product management at Sunrise Medical. “This chair is a great alternative to a scooter as it is easier to transport, more maneuverable, and simpler to stow. It is also a great second chair for some manual chair riders that would like the power to go further and some power chair riders that want a chair that is easier for travel.”

The Q50 R Carbon comes standard with rear running lights, storage for a second battery, and a transport strap, providing added convenience without the need for additional purchases. It also features a Lithium-Ion battery that is IATA-approved for safe transportation by aircraft.*

* Individual airlines have differing requirements relative to the transport of products with Li-Ion batteries. Before arranging air travel with the wheelchair, please confirm with your airline or carrier that they accept battery-powered vehicles under UN classification: UN3171. Please refer to the owner’s manual for further details.
