PeerWell, provider of the mobile platform PreHab, announces a partnership with Lyft Inc to offer patients safe rides to surgery and postoperative appointments for care that falls within bundled payments—starting with joint replacement surgery.

Now, via PeerWell’s PreHab platform, patients preparing for major surgery can run through PreHab exercises, get doctor-approved nutrition plans, and prearrange a safe ride to select hospitals across the country all through their smartphone, notes a media release from PeerWell.

“Consumers are so overwhelmed by the stack of instructional materials they receive before surgery, that simple things like arranging a ride to the hospital are commonly overlooked,” states Manish Shah, CEO of PeerWell, in the release. “Our partnership with Lyft will provide an easy and seamless way for patients to set up transportation right from the daily checklist they receive that counts them down to surgery.”

“Joint replacement patients are in no condition to drive for weeks after their procedure,” says Dr John Tiberi, orthopedic surgeon at Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic, in the release. “Offering the ability to schedule Lyft rides in a patient’s PreHab checklist improves their experience, helps keep them safe, and engages them in the logistics of their care.”
