A news release from the Association for the Advancement of Wound Care (AAWC) announces that AAWC partnered with the European Wound Management Association (EWMA) and the Australian Wound Management Association (AWMA) in an effort to develop a guidance document titled “Managing Wounds as a Team.”
Robert J. Snyder, DPM, MSc, CWS, past president of AAWC and one of the co-authors of the manuscript articulates the organization’s excitement in having worked collaboratively with EWMA and AWMA to create a document designed to be patient-centered and multidisciplinary.
The document is intended for all healthcare professionals and seeks to “shift the paradigm regarding how practitioners approach patient care, specifically wound healing. The ultimate goal is for providers to practice as a true, multidisciplinary team—a team where the patient is at the center and advocates also play a critical role,” Snyder explains in the release.
According to the release, the AAWC has been in partnership with EWMA since 2008 and AWMA since 2013. The organization reportedly looks forward to continued collaboration with these and other international associations.
