The packaging provides Biofreeze in a portable, no mess application providing pain relief. The therapist can snap open the small pouch and apply Biofreeze to the patient’s painful area. The easy-to-dispose of singles will be available June 1, 2011.

The product is said to offer targeted pain relief with the benefits of cryotherapy. The company projects this product will have appeal among doctors, therapists, and patients who are shifting toward topical analgesics and away from systemic pain relievers, which may affect the gastrointestinal tract, heart, kidneys and other organs, as well as cognition. Topical analgesics, such as Biofreeze singles, are manufactured to deliver targeted pain relief with low levels of systemic absorption, which may result in less risk for systemic toxicity and/or drug interaction.
