An alliance between the Department of Labor’s Office of Disability Employment Policy (ODEP), Washington, DC, and the US Customs and Border Protection (CBP), has been created and is set to be signed on January 6, a CBP news release reports. According to the media release, the signing ceremony will take place at the Ronald Reagan Building, Washington, DC. Reportedly in attendance for the ceremony will be CBP acting commissioner David Aguilar, and Department of Labor, ODEP assistant secretary Kathy Martinez.

The ODEP and CBP note in the media release that a formal alliance between the organizations will facilitate goals geared toward providing CBP’s employees with key elements to assist them in hiring individuals with disabilities. These elements include information, guidance, and access to resources designed to help CBP employees recruit, hire, and advance workers with disabilities and to make individuals with disabilities in the general public aware of opportunities of hiring and advancement within the agency.
