The National Veterans Summer Sports Clinic, designed to promote the rehabilitation of body and spirit by teaching summer sporting activities to veterans with significant physical or psychological impairments, began September 16 and runs through September 21, according to a recent news release. The Elyria, Ohio-based company Invacare Corporation, reports that it will sponsor the San Diego-based event. During the event, participants will have the opportunity to develop sports skills and engage in a range of adaptive sports workshops.
The event aims to help participants learn that having a physical or visual disability is not an obstacle to an active, rewarding life. Gerry Blouch, Invacare Corporation president and CEO, notes that the organization is a proud sponsor of the National Veterans Summer Sports Clinic and that Invacare’s products target the goal of, “Making Life’s Experiences Possible for people who need them. This is on display at the Clinic as these participants improve their quality of life and realize that a disability doesn’t mean they can’t live to the fullest,” Blouch emphasizes.
