Akron, Ohio-based Performance Health recently announced that its Thera-Band Latex-Free Professional Resistance Bands will be made available to users in 50-yard rolls.  According to the American College of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology, headquartred in Milwaukee, Wis, frequent users of latex products have the potential to develop allergies to latex proteins. The variation in allergic reaction, research says, can range from mild to life threatening.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Atlanta, Ga, report that 8% to 12% of health-care workers that are regularly exposed to latex are sensitized. In light of these findings, Anna Schrock, senior product manager for Performance Health voices the company’s satisfaction in expanding its latex-free product line. The product’s larger size adds to the value and convenience it affords high-volume facilities, Schrock says.

"…Like the rest of the latex-free resistance band line, the 50-yard rolls are scent and powder free. Both Thera-Band Latex-Free and Latex Resistance Bands are endorsed by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA). Together, these products form one system to meet all patient needs," Schrock adds.
