In an effort to raise funds to assist children and adults with disabilities, Food Lion, Salisbury, NC, a subsidiary of Delhaize America which operates more than 1,000 supermarkets, reports that it has launched its annual Easter Seals Shop&Care fund-raising campaign in more than 1,100 of its stores.
The campaign launched February 13 and will run through March 12, the company notes. A recent news release states that customers may participate in the campaign by purchasing specially marked products from more than 100 manufacturers who support the Easter Seals’ mission to assist children, families, and adults with disabilities in overcoming life’s challenges and in achieving personal goals.
Sherri Webb, community relations manager, Food Lion, emphasizes the company’s support of the Easter Seals and the value of its partnership with the organization. “We are honored to support the mission of providing help, hope, and independence to children and adults living with disabilities,” Webb says.
The company adds that customers may also make a $1 donation at checkout. Customers may also purchase specially marked boxes of General Mills cereals, and in turn, General Mills will make an additional donation to Easter Seals up to $50,000. Food Lion states reports that it will also make an addition donation of up to $250,000 for purchases of cases of its store brand My Essentials water.
According to the release, Easter Seals will ensure that all funds raised remain within the local communities to benefit residents living with disabilities. Connie L. Cochran, president, CEO, Easter Seals UCP North Carolina & Virginia, articulates to the company’s gratefulness to Food Lion, “and especially to their customers, for making a difference in the lives of children, adults, and families managing disabilities and mental health challenges,” Cochran says.
According to the release, the funds raised for Easter Seals by Food Lion and its customers have helped to provide services for individuals living with physical, developmental, and mental disabilities, as well as those with autism and other special needs.
