REHACARE 2019, set to take place September 18 – 21, 2019, at the fairgrounds in Düsseldorf, Germany, will feature more than 700 exhibitors from more than 40 countries which will showcase their latest innovations for senior citizens and people with disabilities to live as independently as possible.

Seminars, themed areas, presentations, and podium discussions on current disability and social policies will complement the exhibits.

More than half of the exhibitors will come from countries other than Germany, ranging from Australia to Vietnam. China, Denmark, Canada, Great Britain, Taiwan and South Korea will be represented with country group exhibits.

As the world’s leading trade fair for rehabilitation and medical care, innovations and advanced developments for people with limited mobility will be the focal point of REHACARE 2019, which will take place in halls 4 to 7 and Hall 7a this year, according to a media release from Messe Düsseldorf North America.

About 250 exhibitors will showcase wheelchairs, power-driven mobility devices, walking aids, and vehicles equipped for disabled drivers and passengers. Everyday aids, nursing care aids, and communication technology for people with sensory disabilities and limitations in their motor capabilities will also be on display. Travel tips and equipment for accessible living round off this product segment. As in the past, hall 7a will be dedicated to sports for the disabled.

On September 19 and 20, REHACARE will be both host and cooperation partner of the RehaForum for the first time, the release continues. The specialist event from the portfolio of MCC – Management Center of Competence in Düren (Germany), which will take place at the fairgrounds’ Congress Center Düsseldorf Süd (CCD Süd), is designed to be a platform to discuss current political, economic and technical developments in the rehabilitation and aid market. The main topics this year will include the Care Staff Strengthening Act (PpSG), smart rehabilitation – opportunities offered by and impact of digitalization, innovative approaches for discharge management, and current research results in neurorehabilitation and chronic diseases.

“We are delighted by MCC’s decision to hold this renowned industry platform by experts for experts at REHACARE 2019,” says Hannes Niemann, director of REHACARE, in the release. “This new alliance provides both parties with added value. It increases REHACARE’s competence in a specialist segment and simultaneously enables the participants of the RehaForum to benefit from the expertise of international exhibitors, the wide range of themes on offer at the trade fair, and the opportunity to make and build contacts with representatives from the world of politics, associations and the healthcare economy.”

The second staging of the M-Enabling Forum Europe will start on September 19 at REHACARE. The objective of this conference, with its accompanying exhibition, is to promote accessible digital technology that enables people with disabilities and senior citizens to live an independent life and to improve their quality of life.

The newly named REHACARE meeting point in hall 6 is the central platform for information, meeting and experience exchange regarding living with disabilities and old age.

The 10th anniversary of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities should provide much material for discussions, per the release. The Convention took effect in Germany on March 26, 2009. What has been done since then to enable people with disabilities to lead a self-determined life and participate on an equal footing? What is the current need for action?

On September 18 the REHACARE meeting point will offer a series of presentations on the subject of eCar. On September 19 the German Medical Technology Association (BVMed) and the National Association for Personal Autonomous Development (BAG SELBSTHILFE) will report about the current proposed policies and rights of patients when seeking medical aids through public health insurance companies.
