WebPT has reportedly become the first electronic medical record designed specifically for rehab therapists to achieve International Standardization Organization (ISO) certification, WebPT Inc announces.
The ISO certification (BSI ISO 27001:2013) defines a management system that brings information security under management control and provides specific requirements to maintain that security.
It also ensures certified entities systematically examine information security risks, including threats, vulnerabilities and impacts; design and implement a coherent and comprehensive suite of data security controls to address risks; and adopt an overarching management process to ensure data security controls continue to meet security needs on an ongoing basis.
Following ISO standards enables WebPT to manage the security of all its sensitive data, including financial information, employee and patient details, medical record data, and customer data hosted by WebPT’s third-party vendors and partners, Phoenix-headquartered WebPT Inc explains in a media release.
“Our mission is to empower rehab therapists to achieve greatness in practice, and safeguarding them and their patients against data security threats is paramount to fulfilling that mission,” says WebPT CEO Nancy Ham, in the release. “Obtaining ISO certification is one more way we’ve shown our dedication to excellence, as it ensures the data our members trust us with every day remains safe and secure.”
