Applications are now being accepted for the newly launched Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) residency program at Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital.

The 3-year program, recently approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education, will provide education for physicians interested in becoming board-certified physiatrists.

Training will encompass clinical, educational, and research opportunities in all areas of PM&R, including spinal cord injury, brain injury, amputee care, pediatric rehabilitation, and cancer rehabilitation, according to a media release from Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital.

“Our extensive rehabilitation services and research program make us an ideal organization for a PM&R residency,” says Michael Jakubowski, MD, chief medical officer at Mary Free Bed, in the release. “We believe our residents, patients, staff, hospital, community and our medical specialty will all benefit from this valuable endeavor.”

Four residency positions will be available, and all rotations will be based at Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital.
