Paralyzed Veterans of America announces in a media release that Kenny R. Dison has been named its new associate executive director of Veterans Benefits.

Dison, a US Marine Corps veteran, most recently worked as a national service officer in the Paralyzed Veterans of America’s Sacramento service office. During that time, he was selected to participate in the Veterans Benefits Department Executive Internship program. He completed the program in summer 2015.

In his new position, Dison will oversee the Veterans Benefits department—Paralyzed Veterans of America’s largest program area, with a network of 69 offices located across the country, per the release.

While in the Marine Corps, Dison served as a military police officer. After being honorably discharged from service, he served as a deputy sheriff in Eureka, Calif, his hometown. While on duty, Dison, incurred a spinal cord injury in a vehicle accident, the release explains.

“It’s an honor to be in the position to advocate for veterans and be their voice as we work together to ensure they are receiving the benefits they are entitled to, have access to the health care they’ve earned, and are presented with valid opportunities for civilian careers that will support their families, ” Dison says in the release.
