The recently finalized Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility Prospective Payment System (IRF PPS) rule will increase inpatient rehabilitation facility PPS rates by 2.4% starting Oct. 1, 2020, and make permanent some COVID-19 flexibilities, according to a news release from Revcycle Intelligence.
In addition, the rule will eliminate the requirement for physicians to conduct a post-admission visit within the first 24 hours of a patient’s admission to an inpatient rehabilitation facility, which CMS waived during the COVID-19 public health emergency to reduce the administrative burden for inpatient rehabilitation facilities.
