Pride Mobility Products Corp, Exeter, Pa, and Quantum Rehab report that Quantum University, an extension of the 2009 Pride U Seminar Tour, will be part of the Medtrade Fall 2009 preshow conference.
Quantum University will be held at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta on Monday, October 12.
Quantum University allows providers and clinicians to earn valuable CEUs (contining education units) at the show by offering CEU courses at a reasonable price, presented by highly respected seating and positioning instructors within the industry, and first-hand demonstrations of Pride and Quantum Rehab’s newest products.
The cost is $255, which includes admission on October 12 to any Quantum University full-day course with complimentary breakfast, lunch, course materials and course certificate, admission to the Medtrade Conference, and an expo pass.
Bryan Anderson, a company spokesman and a decorated Iraq war veteran who was injured in 2005 when his military Humvee encountered an explosive device–resulting in the loss of both legs and one hand–will be the keynote speaker during lunch. Anderson is one of the few triple amputees to have survived his injuries in Iraq, says the company.
Since 2000, Pride and Quantum have invested in a comprehensive, annual Seminar Tour that travels the country presenting CEUs via accredited courses approved by the University of Pittsburgh’s School of Health & Rehabilitation Sciences. Company experts in the fields of product research, design, testing, electronics, mechanical functionality, and funding are available to enhance providers’ expertise in the mobility products industry. These educational sessions help providers to stay current on product features and functionality, which in turn helps them provide greater client support and satisfaction, says the company.
The industry demand for education is rapidly on the rise with the increase of contact hours (CECs) and CEUs required by many state and national governing bodies. Quantum University will provide opportunities to meet these professional development requirements, with curriculum including PMD documentation, seating and positioning, functional applications of wheelchair electronics, and a RESNA (ATP) preparatory course.
“Pride was approached by Medtrade to bring our annual seminar tour to the event this fall,” says Dan Fedor, general manager of education and compliance. “Medtrade is one of the best venues for continuing education in the industry, so, for us, it’s the perfect opportunity to offer dynamic educational opportunities in a venue that’s extremely cost- and time-efficient for our providers. We’re impressed with the direction that Medtrade is taking in regard to the education component of the show and are pleased to join them in this effort.”
Quantum University presenters consist of a team of certified specialists who also are featured speakers at industry related conferences and seminars throughout the country. Well-known industry specialists such as Christine Maurer, MPT, ATP, who serves as a seating and mobility clinical therapist at the Shepherd Center in Atlanta, and Jodie Stogner, PT, ATP, of Southeastern Assistive Technology Solutions LLC, will share their expertise.
