A Montreal, Canada-based business specializing in electronic instruments that measure patients’ physiology, reports that it has expanded its reach internationally by establishing a foothold in Turkey.

Lawrence Klein vice-president of Montreal-based.Thought Technology, reports the opportunity to expand was the result of a deal Klein struck with a Turkish psychiatrist who had been looking to obtain Klein’s products but could not find them in Turkey.

Thought Technology’s product line is comprised of systems utilized to monitor physiology and provide biofeedback. The company manufactures instruments designed to monitor brain wave measurement, EKG heart, EMG muscle, and skin conductance. “Biofeedback is an important component of behavioral medicine,” Klein says, “We manufacture systems that monitor people’s physiology and we’re selling them to medical communities around the world and we’ve branched out to other areas like sports and education.”

Klein reports that 95% of the company’s sales are exports. “Challenges can definitely be opportunities and if you manage them well, it can bring you into entirely new markets.” Klein credits Turkey’s dynamic as a new market to its receptiveness to leading technology and the way in which the country has tripled its income in the last 15 years.
