Wheelchair-accessible vehicle provider BraunAbility announces that Kevin Hayes is its new executive vice president of operations.

At BraunAbility, Hayes will be tasked with overseeing the company’s manufacturing and assembly sites in Winamic and Elkhart, Indiana, as well as coordinating initiatives with the company’s international joint venture operations in Sweden and Brazil, according to a media release from the company.

Prior to joining BraunAbility, Hayes served for 12 years in various leadership roles as plant manager within four different Fiat-Chrysler manufacturing and vehicle assembly plants in the US and Canada, as well as served 18 years with various manufacturing assignments at General Motors, the release explains.

Hayes received a Bachelor of Science degree in Technology from Purdue University, as well as a master’s degree in Manufacturing Management at Kettering University (formerly General Motors Institute).

Nick Gutwein, CEO of BraunAbility, states in the release that hiring Hayes “represents yet another step forward in our strategic plan: to accelerate our rate of innovation and to reach world-class manufacturing, quality, and safety benchmarks.”

Hayes explains in the release that his main goal in the coming weeks is to, “put systems and processes in place to accelerate the manufacturing capabilities here at BraunAbility. I’ve learned over the years the discipline it takes in implementing the proper procedures that are needed to run a world-class manufacturing facility.”

Manufacturing excellence begins when leaders focus their attention on the factory floor, he continues. “That’s what I’ve been used to for the last 30 years, and it’s really talking to the operators and team members and team leaders, because they have lots of good ideas; our job is to support them and give them the right resources to make improvements.”
